I went to Datum, which is an architectural forum, held in KL once a year.
I decided to go last minute, because Jo wanted to go.
And since my firm sponsored the entrance fee ( Rm200+ ), so I go.
But I have to bear for the air ticket which is Rm330. fml.
But I think it's worth it.
I mean, I did learn something.( Doesn't sound like me eh )
And thank god Jimmy let us stay at his house. =P
the hall
My name tag..they decided to go green this year so they omit the plastic holder.
Day one
schedule for that 2 days. 6 speakers on each day
Can check
here for the speakers.
and my boss is the first speaker.
and he looks pretty nervous
And he sounds nervous too. Not the usual boss I see everyday who wear beach shirt, khaki shorts and sunglasses. lol
He even put this photo up. I cant even see myself in it so im amazed when others told me 'hey, I saw u inside'
Overall I think he is ok la..or maybe bcos I understand all the work bcos I have my intern there.
We have tea break after that, and after 2 more speakers, we have lunch.
And they do feed us well.
The desserts are so pretty!
But I didnt take any photo of it bcos I was busy eating =p
buffet style
We have to stand and eat bcos they only provide a few small tall tables and no chair. fol.
And the plate is damn heavy!
or maybe they want to go green?
or go healthy. stand to eat so that you can digest better.
banana man
The other highlight for the day is this Japanese guy - Sou Fujimoto.
He had the most applause for the day.
And personally I like his work because it is sort of near to wat i want to do for my thesis.
And there, I have my precedent study already.
And I even went to buy his book on the next day. -.-
( u can beg to differ from me )
I think I can feel
Jean here, that I think I'm beginning to like architecture again.
( This is totally not me. Maybe I dirasuk hantu architect. Dont mind me )
Maybe bcos im doing something I like for my thesis.
I dono how long can this feeling last, but i hope it'll last till I graduated. =)
He has a sense of humor in presenting. =)
Then there is this guy from netherland.
Netherland beats Brazil in world cup the night before ( ish! )
and the first thing he said is that he is happy that day. Because Netherland won T___T
so sad
In the end they have re-cap session which is toooooo boring that I left halfway.
My boss n Sou Fujimoto
Since we're kaki zombie shooter,
We went for left 4 dead-ing that night at a cyber cafe.
feels so great to be able to play together again!
I guess the cyber cafe is the noisiest that night with lots of screaming n shouting from us.
=D
--------------------------------------
I think the first day's speakers were better and we stayed awake throughout the talk.
But it's different case for the 2nd day.
and most of us sleep thru the first half of the talk.
Jimmy who looks at me with 'disgust', fall asleep too wahahaha
Then it's lunch time again! *immediately wide awake
with the seniors
I was stuffed to the max and Ala is still eating. He then took a slice of carrot and put it into his mouth and asked me to listen carefully then he slowly make the crunching sound. fml
Went to Archidex...
and kept on telling Jo that the wall panels ( or watever that it is called )
are so nice and I want this and this and that.
and next time I want to have bigger house so that I can display all of it.
And in the end he pointed to this and said 'ha, I know. we shall take a piece of panel each and stick them to the wall then u can have all your favourite panels on the wall. then no need bigger house already'
fml -.-
Back to the hall...
his oil collection. -.-
And there's this guy Duangrit Bunnag from Thailand who is very...qian bian.
or shud I say an architect with 'personality'.
He requested for a chair to sit and demanded to start early eventhough the schedule is half an hour later.
I didn't listen to his talk bcos it's kinda boring.
But the truth is im attached to my book
Nice book about vampire epic.
Not those twillight saga kind of vampire stories lah.
Makes me kinda scared when I read it at night. =p But I love it.
Mom bought it for me because I keep on reading the same book ( Stephen King's The Cell )
over n over n over n over again everytime I come home and she is sick of seeing me reading it. -.-
The last speaker for that day is Charles Renfro from USA.
Jimmy's favourite.
bcos he bought his book.
But didnt get Charles' signature in the end bcos he is paiseh ( right?? ) . haha
He is a funny guy who showed us
porn how his work turns into a place for 'art show'
And in the end I donno wat happen. I thk the speaker got problem and then eventually the screen cant work too?
So he turned his laptop to face us and ask us to just squin out eyes to see it.
funny guy.
No wonder Jimmy loves him. lol
I can throw my spec dy if i can see it from where i sit.
and this is the only talk that I stay awake. =p
